The right number for your budget comes from a proposal matched to your date, venue, reception timeline and chosen services. A reception-only plan and a day that also needs ceremony sound, cocktail-hour music or additional setups are different requests. Give each DJ the same event details so you can compare the same scope.
What does the base reception package include?
Our starting package covers four hours of wedding reception DJ coverage, MC support for agreed introductions and announcements, a sound system for the agreed reception setup and event and music planning before the celebration.

What can change your wedding DJ quote?
The parts of the day you want covered.
List the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, reception and dancing you want the DJ to support, with approximate start and end times. For example, a ceremony at one location followed by dinner and dancing elsewhere needs a different plan from reception music in a single room. Tell us about the full schedule before deciding whether four hours is enough.
Your venue and setup needs.
Share the venue name, city and estimated guest count. Mention separate spaces, outdoor portions of the day, access restrictions or a room change during the celebration. These details help us review the sound setup and logistics. Ask whether any travel or additional setup charges apply to your specific proposal.
The atmosphere and optional services.
Decide which extras matter to you. Ceremony sound, additional time, dance-floor lighting and effects can be considered in your custom proposal. Ask for optional services to be listed separately so you can see what each choice adds. Some effects also require venue approval.
Compare the plan, not just the headline price.
Use these questions when reviewing wedding DJ proposals:
- Which hours are included? Confirm the start and end time, which parts of the celebration are covered and the terms for additional time.
- What sound and microphone setup is included? Check ceremony and reception requirements separately, especially if they are in different spaces.
- Who handles introductions and announcements? Confirm the MC responsibilities and how names, pronunciations and timeline details will be reviewed.
- How are music preferences handled? Ask about special dances, must-play songs, do-not-play requests and guest requests.
- What is the complete quoted total? Ask for coverage, optional services and any applicable charges to be clear in writing.
- What makes the booking official? Review the agreement, required payments, cancellation or rescheduling terms and any remaining booking steps before committing.
A practical way to compare: send each DJ the same date, venue, estimated guest count and timeline. If one quote includes ceremony sound and another only covers the reception, ask for matching coverage before comparing totals.
Planning a 2027 wedding?
DNA DJs’ base four-hour reception starting rate becomes $1,100 on January 1, 2027. For new bookings on available 2027 dates, you can lock in the current $800 base starting rate by completing all required booking steps by December 31, 2026.
The rate lock applies to the base reception package only. Ceremony sound, extra coverage and optional services are quoted separately. Final pricing depends on your event, venue, timeline, setup and services. An inquiry alone does not reserve your date or lock in the rate.
